View Full Version : Getting vibration in cabin in drive mode

I have noticed over the last few months that whilst sitting stationary in drive in my Auto TT I get a lot of vibration feeding back into the car through the steering etc.
If I shift back into Neutral, it is fine.
I’m assuming that a bush/engine mount is to blame.
Does anyone know which one is to blame for this intrusive vibration?

The vibration may be coming through your steering wheel, but if you are not moving anywhere then i suspect that is a red herring.

A really silly thing, but have you checked your autobox oil recently?

If all is OK in that dept then I suspect it could be an autobox mount, or the box itself.

Does the vibration get worse when you start to drive along and increase speed?

The vibration is only noticeable when stationary at lights whilst in drive with my foot on the brake.
No vibrations are noticeable when moving, all seems smooth.
I dont get any vibrations or shakes through the steering wheel once moving at all.
It feels like an engine or gearbox mount isnt working and all the vibration is coming through the steering into the car.
Oil is fine so I suspect the latter but wondered if anyone else has noticed the same symptom.

Mine does it as well, had it checked and all seems ok on mine, still does it but does pose any issues for me. :)

VVTi's are famous for this due to soft engine mounts. Mine did it and new mounts cured it.
