Hi guys

Tonight I noticed a smell of petrol when I got out my car.

looks like the hose has split :( its dripping petrol

Its the fuel line from petrol tank to the filter length that I,m after

also any pointers on fitting it too

I'm not sure on the length, but from what i've heard that piece of pipework is not too expensive from Toyota.

Strange for a rigid pipe to split.

I had to get a replacement for mine as they had corroded. Was about £40 for all four IIRC. (only needed one but didn't see the point in just doing one)

They're a pain in the ass to change by the way.

yep

bit of corrosion too

I was hoping to find an alternative to a toyota part that would be quicker. To get hold of Toyota parts is 3 days. I was hoping to sort it tomorrow.

Sorry,

3.5 metres is approx correct (i bought 4 metres and its about half a metre too much, if you want ill do an exact measure for you :))

Are you replacing with braided?

The only reason i asked is that there are some extras needed with the braided stuff

I just removed my good line you could have had for free, but i folded it up to fit in the bin (never really imagined anyone would want one) - still second hand fuel stuff isnt really a wise idea.

I now stink of petrol :(

The pipe that is leaking is the fuel return pipe (i think)

going to ring toyota in the morning and get some prices

I am going to change both pipes
don,t know If I will get braided ones it will depend on the price

out of interest what is the fuel pressure ?

Fuel pressure is around 40psi static idle.

I eventually decided to get the bits from toyota

I thought i would use the closest toyota dealer to me, Ron Brooks in Mansfield

Should of smelt a rat when he said that they don't give discount, but after I told him I got discount all the time from Inch cape in Derby he asked his boss who agreed to 10% off

They guy told me he would have the fuel lines in by saturday morning and he would ring me when they arrived. He didn't ring me. I rang him and after a muffled couple of mins he says that they haven't arrived. but that they would be here monday (today) and he would ring me. He didn't ring me .

so I rang him, and they were actually here ! .

so I go along to pick them up.

When I arrive they seem a bit busy with people waiting to get there cars back from servicing. A very dizzy looking lady walks up to me and asks what was I there for. So I tell her. She says someone from parts will be with me in a few mins.
well 15 mins later she re-apears and says "has no one seen you yet "
I say "no, all I what is the fuel lines I have ordered"
she says " ooh its parts you want is it, I.ll get someone to see you"

Then more time passes by and I see a guy with parts dept under his name on a badge coming towards me, guess what, he walks right passed to the coffee machine.

I think the dizzy women see,s the look on my face because she say,s something to the parts guy who looks across at me. then nods to her ( he still gets his coffee though:rolleyes2: )

a few moments later the guy and his assistiant give me the the parts

hoooray

I,ll be having a go at fitting them tomorrow evening hopefully they are the right ones

What sort of time did it take you Rob?

suprarob

It took about 3 hours Kev

I had a couple of problems with rusty bolts etc

putting braided hoses on would have been a lot easier :rolleyes2:

I would suggest to other owners to check these pipes.
With them having a cover over them an mot tester will probably not notice that there is a problem

Did you get any pictures whilst you were replacing the pipes?
