Does anyone know where I can get hold of a set of facelift tail lights for my Supe or does anyone have the part numbers for them?

no worries..

cheaper option for the rears is to open them up and paint the black surround grey/silver.

might as well change the orange indicator lens to clear while you`re at it.

looks cool too.

How do you get a clear lense for the indicator? Is it the reverse lamp from another set of tail lights?

yep...that`s exactly what it is..

easy enough to open them up and remove the clear lens.

it`s what I did on mine as I personally don`t like the 97+ rear lights on a red car.

just means you have CLEAR-RED-RED-CLEAR at the back on each side.

Adam Kindness painted the black housings of his rear lights to match the car...looks great !

picture of them can be found here -

Might want to recheck those part numbers. I have a pair of brand spanking new... non facelit with those numbers on the boxes. No harm done since I'll have a spare set for MOT's after I attack these ones with glass tint spray http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Blimey- been a while since I looked at my old site....have a look at www.tdi-plc.com/nathan and click on the 'exterior' button on the left. You'll see I did the late spec rear light conversion and I think theres a link in the light section to a detailed page containing part numbers which might help.

Cheers

Any handy links as to how to get pre-facelift lights apart Nathan? I take out all the screws and pop all the tabs and absolutely nothing shifts. I need a crowbar to break the seal or something?

The Dremmel is starting to look like an attractive alternative.

MLC,
? Ive already tinted my pre facelift lights. You need to apply some heat to the sealant to get the buggers to open. You can either pop 'em in the oven for 5-10mins ( scary! ) or use a heatgun/hair drier, with a blunt knife, slowly working your way round. Then, when you assemble them, just re-heat the sealant.

I agree with allymcmurdo, you will NEVER prise them apart without heating the sealant. You will just end up cracking everything in sight. Heating with a hot gun is probably the easiest way. I never took mine apart but I have done Supra and 300ZX headlights and it's an identical procedure. Nearly all lights have the same sort of sealant which goes really gooey when heated. I'd advise having some silicone sealant to hand when you put them back together because the original sealant may be a bit sparse and you don't want water in there http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Sorry MLC, should have mentioned buying some more sealant for the reassembly. Halfrauds do black silicone sealant which is perfect for the job.I did mine about 18 months ago and no condensation yet!
Here are mine all colour coded and tinted

Thanks guys, i'll have another go this weekend. If i fail theres always the trusty old 1200 degrees heatgun at work http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

If anyones interested in a group buy on these I can get them from Japan for around ?100 a side + VAT, need a few people to do this though?

I just used the old oven technique although I watched them like a hawk...taking them out every 5-10 mins to check.

Complete doddle to do, actually didn`t need any new sealant as there was tons of the stuff on the lights...simply reheated that and everything worked like a charm.

I did this conversion, same as Nathan's, wonderful job it is. The lights from my local Toyota dealer were ?106 for the pair inc vat, that was with 15% discount. All you need on top of that is 4 diodes. If your fogs are on all the time when the sides are on ( after doing it like Nathans web site) just cut the green/white wire and re feed the signal to the bulb from the new feed.
