Hmm it's interesting that the HKS "Drag" suspension is as soft as the stock setup (at the rear) which should, in my mind, make the stock suspension a very good choice for drag racing.

Everyone says the Tein's are hard and there is the evidence nearly 82% stiffer at the front and 100% stiffer on the rear which would account for the rattle and shake some experience.

It also proves that the Eibach springs are a good bit of kit for those seeking a bit more control under load without sacrificing the cruising capabilities.

Good info. http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Alex, stock export (UK) suspension is regarded as a good setup for drag racing in the states, and most drag racers stick to it.

Nice find Martin, always more to be found on that site. http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Odd that HKS would make you pay ?x,xxx to buy what you already have! lol - Ice to the eskimo's no less (though I don't doubt the dampers themselves are different... http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif )

I had a customer wanting to replace some existing HKS none coilover springs a while ago, (never did find out WHY...). Have HKS now stopped making these? Thanks.

Chris,

HKS are now no longer marketing ANY of their coil-over kits in the UK. There was a rumour that it was a patent/copy issue with another UK/European damper company re the valving design. No fact on that though. Odd how they are still being marketed in Japan...

As for the 'regular' HKS springs for OE shocks, yes they are being dropped. I don't think that they will be available in Japan either. I believe HKS Japan will purely concetrate on the coil-over stuff.

Without knowing what kit the Tein data is referring to the info is useless. Tein make about 6 different kits for most cars. The most popular nowadays is the 'Flex' which is road orientated and IMO works very well, and I'm a fussy git when it comes to overly-harsh suspension. The ability to have the front and rear damping electronically controlled from with the cabin is such a blindingly good idea that I'm amazed it has taken so long for someone to do it. Being able to switch from 'comfort' to 'looney' with the push of one button is a worthwhile gimmick IMO. It actually works too.

Does anyone have any idea where the JDM with yellow Bilsteins would fit into this table? They feel horribly harsh to me, but my only other sports car for comparison was a UK spec mkiv (which was worlds apart). I'm on 18" rims which doesn't help.

I don't really understand this suspension malarkey, but I do know that my kidneys can't stand my current set-up much longer.

I have Eibach spring on UK shocks. The ride is even worse than the standard car despite the makers claiming "more comfort". Go Karts dont feel evey fag butt on the taramac any more than I do. Come to think of it Eibach is supposed to be a softer kit than most, cant imagine what some of the real hard stuff must be like!.
