Has anyone else had trouble with fly spit on their paint work.
I parked my other car under a tree at work once and it got covered in this really hard greeny/brown gunk. it'a a nightmare to remove because it's rock hard.
i still haven't managed to get it all off.
anyone have any tips on how to get it off without damaging the paintwork?

You sure you don't mean tree sap or the resin from a tree?
If so this sets hard and I've just used a pressure washer and given it a normal wash, not attacked it with one and it's come off OK.

flies will deposit saliva on food to 'soften' it up before eating it. for some reason the do this on other objects as well, like windows for example. it could actually be sap like rundie suggests, the stuff is as hard as paint.
thanks for your help guys, i'll try your suggestions.

I'd love to know the answer to this one too but the only thing that seems to reliably work is not letting it get the chance to harden fully. Normally it's just a soapy wipe on the front bumper every other day so it's no biggie tbh.

hmm i have seen some paint blemishes in my time (im a painter) but i have never heard of fly spit ! its ether tree sap or bee crap, both are water based and should come off with a good wash n wax http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
