Hi all, quick question... I can't seem to locate the turbo pressure signal wire on the ECU.
According to mki4.com its a black wire with a yellow strip and I've confirmed that by checking the middle wire on the pressure sensor itself.
Is the ECU the same wiring layout as the yanks?

Going by that pic and finding the second wire down (P) on that side it doesn't seem to be that colour to me, unless I'm looking at the wrong one its blue/red or something ?http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/down.gif

I know its fiddly so maybe I'm getting the wrong wire... any advice except take it somewhere ? http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

No one know? http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif so cruel, my boost awaits http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/help.gif
Don't wana make the cut till i'm 100% sure http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shocked.gif

I've just checked the diagrams that i have and its defenitely that pin on a Jap spec as well.

Are you looking at the connector from the back or the front ?

I'm looking at them from both, but lining up the alternating staggered pins with the diagram.

I'll see if I can get a pic of mine, BRB http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

IIRC if you are looking at ECU in situ, that pin marked B (for +12v) is at the end nearest the bottom of the car and closest to the firewall. May help as a reference point.

If that is indeed the case then they seem to have the rows alternating the wrong way round on the diagram.

Heres my pics....

I'll go look see if it is the other way around.....

thnx for the help so far again martin.

ooops there a bit on the big side, sorry

It's the black yellow wire that you think is in the wrong place.

Its because the location diagrams are looking at the back of the connectors, its usual for electrical\electronic diagrams to actually tell you which plane you are supposed to be viewing the connector from but with all the MKIV ones i've seen they tend to leave you to guess. http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Hope your right Martin because I've used that wire and finished putting the covers on etc.. and the car won't start, its turning over but won't fire..almost like an immobilizer is kicking in http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif

The fuel pump wire isn't black/yellow is it? Because it has fired twice after several attempts but just cuts out straight away...... http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/compfrus.gif

Because of the connector orientation issues, did you defenitely tap the correct wire for the +12v and ground to the BCC ?

I grounded the black to one of the ecu mount bolts ok and took the 12+ feed from the 12v ignition live of the stereo harness as didn't want to play about with any other ecu wires with not being sure at that point of the layout.

If thats all ok could it be anything to do with calibrating the unit before I fitted it as detailed in the mkiv how too, it seemed easy enough using my work multi meter and the car battery.....set it to 4.29v as it said nearly but not actually on 4.3v.

I need a stiff drink lol

do you think it would be worth trying it with the 12v from the ecu pin or shouldn't it make a difference? 12v is 12v right?

Martin F

4.29v should be close enough, calibration of the unit was going to be my next suggestion.

You're not the first person to experience this problem when fitting a BCC, i'll do a search through all my emails. Moving the +12v wire is not really an issue, but i would defenitely try another earth point or perhaps better still splice into the wire on your diagram that would be marked as E.

Cheers m8, I've since tried the 12v from the ecu and as you've said it made no difference. The earth seems good, but I'll try else where to rule it out.

Thought it was too good to be true uptill now fitting all these bits with no problems.... http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif typical this is the key bit!

Think my next thing to try will be removing the bcc from the pressure sensor wire, so it will be back to stock to make sure its not something else I'ce disturbed in the harness or something.

Yep, thats what i would suggest, but you've just prompted me......................make sure the ECU connector is bolted all the way home, its quite easy to think its in when its not.

If you do the 10mm bolt up with a wrench you should start to feel resistance when it really is home.

Another thought, how have you attached the wires to each other ?

That bloody bolt! After all that it was just what you've said, I nipped it up a tad more as you said and bingo http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/buttrock.gif
How frustrating is that.

Thankyou so much for sticking with me there bud, don't know what I'd have done otherwise...was starting to get well pee'd off with it and it was heading for the bin lol.

Lost track how many pints I owe you now, but if we have a meet sometime you best not be driving http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Moral of the story is, always do your bolts up tight no matter how awkward they are to get too!

Martin F

LOL, think that bolt has caught quite a few people out in the past. You push the connector in thinking its home, but it won't be until you've tightened the bolt up.

Now enjoy http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
