Hi all,

I had some UK rear brakes fitted to my J-spec Supra a couple of months ago, and its been making a scuffing noise since.

I took it in last week to get some new pads, and the bloke at the garage said the backing plate is catching.

When the brakes were fitted, i told him to cut back the plates but he doesn't want to take them back any further as they stop mud and grime going into the handbrake shoe.

Is there bigger plates available for UK spec cars? If not, shall I just tell him to remove the whole plate?

Thanks

I think he could be right about the backing plates protecting the handbrake assembly, but i would have thought if he has trimmed off the lip on the edge of the dust shield then there is nothing for the disk to rub against.

You can probably change the dust shields for UK ones if you wanted but from what i have seen and heard its a lot of hard work.

Part numbers are:
46503-14020 RH Side
46504-14020 LH Side

If you decide to go down that route.
