I need help with a problem thats baffelling me. When my car gets to about 75- 80 plus i'm getting a rumbling noise and slight vibration. It feels exactly the same as going over rumble strip's at the end of a dual carriageway. The rumbling isn't there on lowspeed town driving or on hard acceleration. It seems to get slightly worse the faster i go.

At first i thought it was the balancing, but i've had that done and it's made no difference. The camber set up is correct but the toe on the front and rear is out(can't sort it out yet as rear track adjusting bolts are seized and Toyota are being slow getting the replacement bolts)

I'm not the most mechanically minded person so an help on this would be much appreciated.

Cheers guys http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/help.gif

Yep oldish tyres can make things worse and be responsible for a lot of road noise, the same as cheap tyres can be noisy in comparison to decent brands.

I had the same problem with an old car (not a supra). I had driveshafts replaced and allsorts. I took the car to several garages, had the balancing and the tracking sorted, the gearbox inspected, and still had the problem. 2 years later i decided it was time for new wheels and tires and it sorted everthing out. I couldn't believe it. http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

Sorry for the delay in reply but my computer threw a wobbly.

Anyway,I'm not sure on the age of the tyres as i only bought the car 3 months ago. Its running with 225/55 ZR16 Goodyear Eagle F1's on the front and 245/50 ZR16 Kumho Ecsta's on the rear which were fitted in February of this year.

Does this shed any more light on the problem?

They are pretty good tyres, so if you've had the balancing checked i'm a bit at a loss on this one.

May be worth checking or\and replacing your diff oil, but i reckon you may need to get the car into somebody to check this out.

I had a rumbling noise this morning, but i think that's more to do with last night's g/f party http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
