There is a company out there that does a completely clear lensed pack with full LED replacement pack in them....can't remember where though.

Would that pack be legal?

AFAIK as long as the lens lights the colour it should when lit, there is no problem with running all clear lenses..

That reversing light looks *hit !

I think there may be some sort of legal requirement for brightness. ie if your original bulb is 20W giving X Lux 30cm from light then any replacement lighting can't be under that specification. Imagine replacing your 20W brake light bulbs with 5W ones, http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif be like having Morris Minor lights !

I did see a Jap company doing Skyline LED lights and they looked quite good.

Lots of aftermarket lights are not DOT approved and therefore illegal

I suspect these are the same, in fact the last time I looked into it you couldn't use LED's on exterior car lights period

One of the new peugeots has led rear lights (looks cr@p though) and some of the new london busses have so led's must be legal..

Daz Payne made a set of all clear lenses up, and I know played about with led clusters instead of bulbs...

Mine will be finished next week and I will post some pictures.

Replaced orange lens with clear, smooth brake lens with frosted and ring of led's on red lens only. Road legal and a tenth of the price of sending to USA, even with great ? to $ exchange rate!!

I approached Clear Corners for a set of fully clear rear LED lights... till I found out the price! (Around ?800 if I remember rightly) A bit out of my reach I'm afraid! So I opted for the 'put a reversing lens in place of the orange lens' idea. http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I also had an email this week for Clear Corners, letting me know they have now released a headlight conversion for the Supra.

Andy, your rear lights, is that a face lift set of rears ?........

Does anyone know if you could could either buy/or re-conditione some rear lights so that you could have led bulbs, and smoked rear lenses. Whats the law regarding smoked rear lenses ?. I remember Oxy used to have his face lift rears smoked and it looked real nice.

Aslo Im getting hard over those front lamps. Do you know if they are glass or plastic......and I cant see a price ?

Suprash,

The rears I have on my car are pre face lift with just the orange lens swapped for a clear reversing lens. The ones in the pic I posted are from Clear Corners.... they sent me it when I was enquiring about buying a set of all clear LED lights. Not sure weather those lights are glass or plastic, didn't say in the email they sent me.... and for a guess, the price will be on request(and for good reason too I suppose! ????) http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shocked.gif

the clear corner ones to me look like the plastic you get on overhead strip lights.

there was a set of all clear light made by darrell payne which I think are still floating about.

he also manage to fab up an led cluster ( of about 30 leds ) in place of each of the bulbs.

if I catch him on sat, I`ll ask him for details.

Do you reckon if you sent them say a set of glass lights they would reconditioned them, obviously for a price on request http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I assume they would, as that is how they operate on the rear lights. You send your clusters to them and they modify as requested and return them to you.... plug & play.
