Im sorry I haven't been here long so excuse me if this has been posted a thousand times before but does anyone know if there is a guide to fitting the front facelift indicators to a pre facelift car??

Many thanks

There isn't a guide on here IIRC, but it's fairly easy.

Just remove the headlights for access and all will be apparent.

I'm thinking of fitting these to my car. ?However, I'm sure I've been told that new wiring looms are needed.

I don't know if anyone here has tried to fit these and has any ideas.

Also, my UK headlamps have misted from the inside quite severly. ?Surely, if the headlights are removed etc.. I would need to get the alignment checked?

I found this from a previous quote mate, seems like a good guide

Ok. As well as the indicators from E-Bay you need two new wiring looms - part number 81515-14390

You'll need to remove headlamps and old indicators.

File the new indicators a little so that the bulbholder from the 81515-14390 loom clicks into place.

Next you need to connect the wires coming from the old looms to the bulb holders on the 81515-14390 loom.

Connect it all up and check it works

Put everything back together again.

It sounds so simple. I'll order the parts now anyway and fit when the weather gets nicer.

My facelift indicators came from Procarparts in the US and didn't need the additional looms, just some wire, solder, heatshrink and cutters. http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

You don't need to re-adjust the alignment on the headlamps if you remove them and bolt them back in as they are on fixed points. The level and side to side adjustment is via the screws on the headlamp assembly itself. Obviously if you fit new units they will need to be aligned.

One thing i used to do with mine when they got moisture in was remove the high beam bulb and leave the cap off before a long journey. The heat from the engine bay would dry them out.

Just watch out if you go to flash anybody at junctions etc http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

I got my indicators from the same place as Martin, I didn`t bother with the additional looms either, just do as Martin suggested above.

the one other thing you`ll have to do it cut a narrow slot in the stock bumper for an additional mounting bolt on the facelifted indicators, easily done and you`ll see what you have to do once you`ve got the old orange indicators out the way..

Brilliant. It's probably alot easier than taking the whole thing apart. Although with 99.5k on the clock, I'm a little reluctant to do a long journey!!!!

Personally I'm not bothered at all, especially if I am able to hold onto the car.

The only problem I see is the whole oh it's clocked issue with sellers later on.

Yeah. Let's hope I don't have to sacrifice the Soop when I buy a house.

Just out of interest, does anyone know why people choose to replace the looms when fitting the new indicators?

I think the reason is that if you buy this additional loom you don't need to chop the plugs off your current loom. But that seems a bit hypocritical to me as who's going to unplug things and put the orange blobs back http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Thats the only reason i can think of anyway
