Hi all, at long last i managed to get hold of a set of UK 17" MKIV Wheels.

In the pursuit of ditching the non-standard 18" moody bling "split-look" wheels which were on the car when i got it i've got hold of a set of original wheels, looking foward to putting them on, 18's i've got are only 8J width on front and rear, very pleased to see the MKIV wheels 8Jfront 9.5Jrear (although it seems 17" tyres wider than 265 are a little more pricey than i banked on)
Even more pleased they're in much better nick than i thought they'd be.

My 18's are looking a little worse for wear n/s/f having carefully caressed a curb once when a lorry decided to try and sandwich me against a wall in a tunnel once cos he was half asleep and o/s/f has a "pot hole" deformation of the outer rim which just pi*ses me off and generally the "black chrome" finish has gone a bit wierd don't use acid wheel cleaner often but could have been that. Might try and sell them on, maybe get them refurbed 1st.

Anyhow my only quibble with the 17" UK rims i got is i don't think the wheel centres are right, they fit perfectly, have Toyota emblem embossed in the centre, but they also have what i can only describe as 5 "fake" shallow wheel stud holes (which arn't actually holes, just ditches), also the silver colour of the wheels centres is nothing like that of the wheels.

I doubt these were some sort of option wheel centres, but any opinions on these would be nice, sorry i can't post a pic but i'm too stupid to work it out, and my computer isn't the greatest (the Commodore64 is the only thing holding it together!http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Oh and by the way if anyone has some STD originals? or knows if the 16" JDM wheel centres are the same as 17", or the part numbers for the 17" UK Wheels centres, availability and how much i'd be looking at for a new set would be much appreciated.
Cheers!

You have the late model wheel centres. I suspect if you post a piccy someone would probably swap for the original version just to be different.

17 or 16 wheel centres are the same fitment wise AFAIK

They could be the centre caps from the later stock alloys as these were slightly different with fake nut covers\holes. A few people fitted these as it tended to update the looks of the alloys.

Can't find a pic of them on my machine but maybe somebody else will have one.

Cheers Pete, Martin and Gavin. Yep mine are the ones in the pic for the late type stock wheels. I don't feel quite so hard done by now!

I noticed the steel wheels on my neighbours aging Carolla had another variation of plastic Toyota wheel centre which made me wonder whether mine had been replaced with some from another Toyota model of some sort, after flicking through the Toyota Supra Portfolio book (i won in the xmas raffle!http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif i didn't see the wheel centres in there it covers 1982-1998, if i'd bothered to look properly at the Supra Buying guide in the May 05 issue Jap Mag i would have seen them in there on the VVTI. For some reason i thought all the JDM cars came with 16" wheels therefore assumed the VVTI's did too. Everydays a school day!

I don't think i'll be in a hurry to replace them now, especially at ?17 a cap! might just get them painted a closer match to the wheels as they look a little dull and grey.

Cheers for all the info fellas!
