I fitted a UK Spec stereo yesterday (big thanks to Dunk Shaw for that) and found that I had a connector left over, with nowhere to plug it in.

I'm guessing that the original stereo in my car looked like this: -

front-

back-

Which has two connectors. Only one of these fitted the UK spec unit so I've left the other one unplugged. I'm almost certain that the one which plugs into the UK unit is the connector on the right on the Jap spec one in the photo.

Does anyone know what this other connector does and what might not be working as I havn't got it plugged in?

p.s. My subwoofer works, as does electric aerial.

It could be for the changer, but i suspect its more likely for the stock amp.

The stock amp is usually taken out of circuit when an aftermarket stereo is fitted. Would need to look into it a bit more to be 100%

Does the UK car have an amp then? (And is it under the passenger seat?)

Yep.

So I should have an amp under my passenger seat then? And if so then why is everything working ok without it plugged in?

Most of the GZ's had the amp.

Stereo will still work with the amp bypassed just like the replacement one did, just there will be no amplification http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Thanks for that mate. (still fairly confused because I'm rubbish at these things. don't really see how it's so loud without it being amplified)
