I wouldn't worry about, the cars are utter dogs on 19 inch rims anyway. Best way to wreck the handling by spending money!

You might find that 18's are a good compromise, Chris knows his stuff and I recall him saying somewhere...........17's are best, 18's if you must, 19's ?http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/run.gif

I think it depends what you are aiming for. If it's out and out perfomance & handling then perhaps Chris's words should be strongly considered, if it's purely for show maybe 19's are for you.

Dunk Shaw here on the board is running 19's (bloody lovely they are too) he might be able to give you a good idea as to the pro's and cons.......good luck with your choice.

Ive got 19's on my car and agree that its not the best way to go but think utter dog is rather harsh http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shocked.gif

Im no suspension guru or superstar driver but im quite happy with how my car handles and find the only real prob is with tramlining on poor rd surfaces which i think is more down to 10" and 11.5" wide rather than diameter.

Just my 2p wrth so await to be shot down in flames.

Thanks Barney but Emma will think i put you up to it posting a pickie of my car i mean.

I do agree with Chris though and you def arent adding to the cars handling by fitting bigger wheels.
Def looks better imo.
I have left my car on stock suspension and changed the rollbars for TRD frnt & rear , i'll have to drive up to your place one day Chris and let you have a drive see what you think.

I'd be interested to know just what changes happen to the stock suspension when fitting 19's ?
I was impressed with the differance the rollbars made but its a bit interesting in the wet now the car doesnt roll anywhere near as much.

Well Dunk, the promise of Guinness might have swayed me http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ?http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm running 19's on my UK TT with standard suspension. The car is my daily driver and I seem to get on with it ok. The car had 18's on it when I bought it and the only difference I really noticed was you seem to feel the bumps a little bit more, probably due to the lower profile tyres. Each to their own preference I guess.

(P.S. I'm new on here so please be gentle! http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/spank.gif tut tut !!! lol lol

From personal experience I am not sure that I would really notice the difference driving a car with say 17's on as compared to 19's.

Do a search, I posted on this i some detail last year. The stock suspensions camber control and bush compliance is not designed to run an uktra low profile tyre. Every, and I mean EVERY MKIV I have driven on 19 inch rims has been a complete dog, the cars handling totally ruined.

what thinkness though if he were to go for 19s,, 265-275 30 on rear and 235-245 35 on front
