Hello all real panic here driving my car today i noticed lack of power the dump vavle didnt work and there was no boost. the car drove fine just sounded different as there was no noise from the turbos as they spooled up. please help shed some light could this be a turbo failure or would the car run like a bag of potatoes if it was

thanks all

Have you checked all the intercooler hoses yet ? Particularly the ones around the side mount (will need to pull back the inner wing liner)

Hello martin, nope ive not done that mate. I was wondering or hoping that it may be leaking boost somewhere. how do you pull back the inner wing liner withoug damaging it. would my car not run at all then if it was a major problem

Well it would certainly be loosing boost if one of the intercooler hoses was off. To pull back the liner, you need to jack up the car and support it. Remove a few of the bolts on the right hand side of the liner and you will be able to pull it back. Check all the connections along the intercooler pipework, but experience and sods law says it will be the most awkward one to get to, behind the liner.

It could still be the turbo's but you need to check the simple stuff first.

Alternatively, remove the offside front wheel & access from behind.
I think, if one of the intercooler hoses had come off (like, completely) the car will not start. Have you tried starting it since?

yeah been for a drive tonite an its still the same the car just has no pull the boost gauge moves barely an theres no spooling noise. Im taking it to a garage in the morning to have a look at it, fingers crossed its not the turbos cause i think i wouldnt wanna replace the stocks id go for a single but that would cost loads an would involve another loan which i cant do.

What's he going to do, surf the net looking for answers as he sits in your car ?

Sounds like the garage doesn't have a Danny-la-rue.

Try somewhere else or try the advice above.

hes gonna see if its electrical like a fuse board or something. the speedos not working so hes gonna do that aswell. Ive had no luck with this car. this year ive had 3 punctures, John virgo the pro snooker player drive into it, sum stupid women in a ford cack drive into it an now the turbos are gone

I think you would quite easily see if one of hoses was off or loose, just follow the pipework and check

Turbo to IC pipe:

IC to TB pipes (access underneath is easier if you remove the undertray-5mins work with a 10mm socket)

The easiiest way to check the turbo-IC connection on top of the IC is to remove the offside front wheel, then remove the plastic cover behind the IC for access:

they specialise in import sports cars in general I think. THe garage looked impressive they had a 1000bhp rolling road an had a few nice cars in there being worked on. I got their name from Bonzai magazine. just waiting for them to get back to me now, fingers crossed hey.

hehe thought id get the suspense up, lol Well the boost pipe was tightened so much it eventually split that it lost boost completely, the de-restricter wasnt working so needed changing and I not being mechanically minded hadnt topped up brake fluid oil etc, and the ecu was in overload with faults an wasnt working very well. The car is amazing now it sounds amazing an drives really well now better than its ever driven. THank god it wasnt anything major. I had visions of ringing the bank manager for a loan to go single. Cant believe though that it was something as small as a split pipe. And I will be paying more attention to topping things up. Gonna have a good read of the manual. Thanks for you help aswell guys. All I need to do now id get the bumper an arch fixed after John pot as many balls as you can virgo drove into me
