First thing i would do is check the pipes at the back of the engine going into the bulkhead and make sure they are both hot. If only one is hot then there is most likely a blockage or problem with the matrix.

If they are both hot then it's a problem with the various flap actuators and maybe control circuitry.

yeah the pipes are roasting hot , that why i need to know where the tap is so i can bypass it or find teh problem!

If both pipes are roasting hot then there is nothing wrong with the coolant circuit, it must be electrial or mechanical regarding the control of the flaps.

Going from experience i'd start by making sure all the plugs are plugged in on the back of the heater controls and the AC amplifier on top of the stereo, all the plugs are orange in colour.

well the aircon had been taken off before i brought the car but all the plugs are connected as far as i can see, do you know where the control flap is? i know the vent control is under the osf dash but i have no idea what controls the heat. ive even brought the workshop manual which still doesnt seem to show anything obvious. do you think the aircon amp controls the heat?

The aircon amplifier controls everything to do with the climate control, including the servos.

Strange you can't find much about the aircon controls in your workshop manual as in mine there is masses of info on the whole climate control system.

When i get a spare sec i'll take a look and find out where the servo\lever is for the heat.

OK, i've looked up where the air mix actuator is and it's going to be a royal PITA if that has gone as it's on top of all the aircon assembly which is right up behind the dash.

For now it may be worth conducting the aircon tests and seeing what faults show up. I've uploaded the procedure here.

Remember if it is dark then you will get a failure code for the solar sensor.

Failure codes are here

AC Component locations are here, but remember this is for a LHD verhicle so on your car things will be over the other side.
