Having a dispute with garage at moment about strength of anti-freeze. Does anyone know the Toyotas recommended strength, or better still have the owners manual that they can scan the info for me? Also how often do they recommend you check the strength? the garage is saying I should check it whenever there is ice on my windscreen! Cheers.

Don't know. Had only had the car 6 days from the garage when the cooling system failed. Need info for evidence in court.

ive used the toyota pre mixed stuff, not to sure of the exact name of it but it is deff premixed, but i also think you can get a coolant from mr t that you can then mix to your own needs. think martin knows a bit about coolants

Here you go

http://www.mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/fluids&plugs&brakes_service_specifications/index.htm

http://www.mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/cooling_system/index.html

I've just checked the owners handbook and it recommends a mix of 50% water vs. antifreeze.

As Rob says, the Toyota Anti-Freeze comes pre-mixed.

Darryl at the end of the day mate you shouldnt have to be checking levels of anti-freeze in a car that you havent even had a week yet. If this was 2/3 months down the line I might sort of see their point, but 5 days......come on, this bloke is on another planet.

And the fact that you have said there is a lot of rust inside your coolant system seems to indicate this problems has been happening over time, these things dont just take days to happen.

I really cant see how this bloke is still contesting this mate.......... :wtf:

So everytime you see frost you have to check your anti-freeze level before starting the car, and even then worry about the Basingstoke sub zero tempatures (according the MET office of course ;) ) being so severe that your car might not start, all according to this bloke...........It defies (sp) beliefe, it really does......

Can you imagine the recalls & lawsuits that manufacturers would face if they developed & sold a car that needed it's anti freeze checking every icy morning with consequences of engine damage for failure to do so!
A car needs to survive it's service intervals without stupid crap like this, and the thing is, they all do.
