There's one thing replacing a kitchen, but to have to live in the house at the same time is a completely different matter. Have you found anywhere that the dust hasn't got Flynn :D

Tell me about it, Im fed up with trying to cook in the living room already! Ours only got underway Monday, we are having the kitchen and dinning room done, it's a nightmare the whole house is full of dust, noise all day long and no power most of yesterday (Karen went to use the shower last night, the sparky has somehow disconnected the power supply to it, she was not a happy bunny!).................now where did I put those Valium:eek:

Matt, how do you mangage to post such large picture files?

Looks like you're in the same sort of state as we are mate.

I hate hate hate microwave meals. We had them for the first 3 days and then I put my foot down and said no more. Horrible things.

RE the pictures. I have an account on photobucket. I just resize in windows (using an XP add-on from Microsoft called "picture resizer") and then upload to photobucket. (You can skip using the resizer though, photobucket will do this itself) The I link the pictures to there.

Kev: The dust has been awful. Everything is covered in a fine layer of crud. :(

Thanks Matt, I might try and have a look a photobucket if I get the time.

Think we are in much the same state with our kitchens, ours is made worse by the fact we have knocked into the dinning room as well which is being done at the same time, dust, dust and more dust everywhere:(

Seems like the numpty who did the wiring in some of our house previously wasn't that clued up, poor old sparky has a real job on his hands trying to make sence of it and putting things to rights.

I think if I had spent the same money on the Soop it might well be in the running with yours for the fastest in the club ;) :D

Glad I'm at Japfest Saturday as the plasterer is in then, sadly he's also here Sunday:hand:

Just hope the end result is worth it.

Like this mate:

Which is done by pasting this code:

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l62/Soopytwo/DSCN0005.jpg
And you can copy and paste that from photobucket using the "IMG" code:

Things are nearing some form of completion now:

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l269/flynnuk/kitchen/20061002-day-14/200601002026Medium.jpg

The floor is going down in the next two days, the cooker will be fitted this week, the fridge/freezer was purchased today and is arriving on Thursday, granite worktops were ordered on Saturday.

This is what it used to look like....

We're having the worktops templated on Monday, then they will fit them 10 days later. It's a local firm who have the granite in stock.

In case anyone has ever wondered what under-floor heating looks like before it's been covered over by your floor tiles...... my friendly builder took a shot on my camera before he covered the whole lot in glue.

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l269/flynnuk/kitchen/20061004-day-16/200601004001Medium.jpg

Now it's covered it looks like this:

Yup. All the wires are hidden in the wall. There's no way I wanted any wires showing. The TV aerial guy is coming today to upgrade the aerial on the roof so that we get freeview properly and wire the new TV in.

I'm not sure how long the overfloor heating took to lay. Like everything else in the kitchen, I get home in the evening and just see what they've done. :)

Just spoke to my wife, the builders c0cked up. They were only supposed to put the grey glue on the wires and not in between. The in between bits are supposed to be bare concrete for the tiles to adhere to.

The builders are now hand chiselling out all the required gaps so that they can lay the tiles. They've spent all morning doing it and they've got about 1/6th of the way through. I reckon they will be lucky sorted out their c0ck-up before the weekend. .:)

Hopefully they wont damage the under-floor heating in the process of all that chiselling. Because if they do they'll be ripping the whole damn lot out and starting again.

They spent all day sorting it out and they're still only 2/3rd done. :(

The builders did the cables mate. I can take none of the credit. I'm a computer programmer not a DIY expert! :)

The builders have removed all of their junk from my garage and last night was the first night in a month that my car has been able to be garaged again.

When I cleaned her this morning I could actually see what I was doing. (Which makes a change)

Tomorrow morning I'm going to treat her to a little wax... :)

There you go mate:

Kitchen Diary (http://s98.photobucket.com/albums/l269/flynnuk/kitchen/)

The builders have left now for 3 weeks. In that time the granite worktops will be fitted and then they will come back to finished off.

It's looking better than it was when we started though:

Looks like you're making progress mate.

Photobucket rocks! There's a feature where you can select several pictures and generate several clickable links with small pictures in one go. That's quite cool too. I reckon I'll get over 10,000 pictures on there with the amount of compression I do.

Just picking the tiles at the moment. The rest of the walls will be a brown/beige colour which some have them have already been painted it.

Tiles may well end up looking something like this:
