I've been thinking about trying some home brew for a while now, as I'm spending too much money on beer which I could spend on the supra instead.
So, I managed to get some wort from work, had some yeast 'acid washed', chucked it in & took it home.
Here's the result:

As you can see it's started to ferment already:

The wort had a much higher gravity (related to density) than usual, around 1100 rather than the normal 1045, so I had to add some liquor (water) to reduce it otherwise it would ferment to around 12% :D Now it should finish up at around 5% with a gravity of around 1010.
Originally I had it in just one container, but it started fermenting 2 hours after I brought it home yesterday & the yeast was flowing out of the top, so I decided to stick in to 2 instead.
If I can get the fermentation perfected, next time I'll start from scratch & mash in the malt myself :)
I'm looking forward to trying this when it's ready, the best thing is it's going to cost me nothing as I can 'get' all the ingredients & chemicals from work :D
Here's to endless free piss ups http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/mrtolpuddle/Smilies/pivo.gif http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/mrtolpuddle/Smilies/guinness.gif

Years ago I used to make home brew with those kits you could buy in Boots, it was ok-ish but strictly on a "needs must" basis:laugh:

Sounds like you know what your doing Dan, will be interested to see what it tastes like, good luck:brushteeth:

I prefer drinking a home, I seem to be affected more down to pub.

I'm not sure I'd say I know what I'm doing Barn, it's a bit different doing it at home. At work we have pretty accurate control over process which isn't so easy at home. I suppose the bonus is the wort was made properly which gives me a head start. The hardest thing is temperature control at home - it needs to be kept at around 18-22C to keep the yeast active.

Bromy, we've got quite a range of beers now:

Tanglefoot
Fursty Ferret
Badger First Gold - voted best beer in the world last year at Munich
Golden Glory
Golden Champion
Badger Original
Englands Gold
Stinger
And another as yet un-named beer, which one this years Winter Tesco beer challenge
These all go in bottle, but we've got a few others which go in cask & keg.
Apparently we're the 3rd best selling bottled ale producer.
