I've never liked electric ariels anyway, so I'm happy to rip it out and go with the fixed bee sting one, is that what you've got Baz ?

I've had a look at the one you suggest Barney, but that's just the mast, I will need the base and the 5mm female threaded section.

Yes Baz, I'm having a bit of trouble getting hold of one of these as well.
There are a few posts on "the other side", and its seems like maybe an Audi TT roof aerial might be suitable, although the only one I can find shows the mounting angle at 52° - Supra looks more like 45° to me though. The Audi one is amplified, anyone have any idea how this is done. It seems to have a (ign) switched feed to the aerial base - so this would indicate that the aerial base does the amplification internally ? |

For some reason Toyota/Lexus seemed to like old school electric ariel's. Just a thought, do recent Toyota/Lexus models still have these or have they gone down the bee-sting type fitment now? If they have perhaps you could use/adapt one of these?

Well, I think i've got this one sorted - here it is:
I tried the Audi aerial, but the angle is all wrong (only a cheap one off ebay). The aerial I bought is a roof aerial with a variable angle. As its designed for going the other way around, it would fill with water in the ajustable part - so I sealed it with black silicone. Looks good to me any way, and works perfectly. Oh,.... it was £8.99 from a motor place in Birmingham. |
