nsr clunk

hi ya ppl iv got a clunk cuming from the nsr of my supra iv dun all the bushings yesterday but still have the prob it clunks when i pall away and iv got a rumberling when i am driveing from the nsr plz hellp?

Trying to decipher all that 'text speak' it seems like you have a clunk from the near side rear and you've already done something to the bushes.

What have you done to the bushes exactly?

Have you checked for play in the ball joints, drop links or wheel bearings?

i do have a clunk on the n/s/r i have chanegd all the rear bushes 2 polly to try and fix the problom but i still have it and there is no play in the bushes or ball jounts or the bairing but sum 1 sead 2 me i cud be the drive sharft as there is a bit of play in that?

when i pull away i get the clunk and when i am driving i get a constent rumbling from the back that i can feel through the car

Wheel bearing?

I would think if it was drive shaft you'd get an initial clonk which would pass under load and not constant.

Does it change when cornering left or right, reasonable cornering like a roundabout.

If you've checked your bearings etc it could be one of 2 things.

The most likely is that the clip/spring which holds the rear brake shoes (the handbrake shoes inside the disc) has extended and is catching on the inside of the disc as it revolves. The symptoms you describe are exactly what mine had and this was the issue. Remove the wheel, turn the hub by hand and see if you can hear it catch on each revolution. It won't sound loud but you wouldn't believe how loud it gets in the car when moving. Some of the other guys here may remember me having a nightmare trying to find what it was after it started on the way home from a summer meet. If it is this your shoes may need replacing. The issue of the clip/spring can be solved simply by rebending the "z" part of it (in the middle there's an intential "Z" kink which can stretch out over time). Shorten it back up and it won't catch. The clunk as you start off is due to the handbrake not releasing the shoes smoothly.

The other option though less likely is that your boot rubbers (the blocks not the seal) may have gone. Without them being in good condition the hatch moves up and down as you drive and you get a noise that vibrates through the car.
