Sorry to post dredge, but I tried a new method last week that has produced amazing results. After taping round the headlights to protect the paint, I wet-sanded the lenses with 2000 grit wet until there was a white residue over the entire lenses. I then got a mate to buff (I don't own an orbital buffer) them using g3 compound, and finally sealed them with a coat of wax. It's important to use the lowest/slowest setting on the buff, too high will generate heat and you'll run the risk of heat spots or marking the lenses. The entire process took maybe twenty minutes and they're looking better than they ever have even though I regularly cleaned mine in the past with plast-x/rubbing compound etc.
Well worth doing, you'll be amazed at the difference sanding them makes.
