Yup. I've got a leak in that general area. The car is going in for suspension alignment soon and I'm hoping they have time to take a look at where this leak is coming from.

My current solution to this leak is as follows: -

1. Check the oil regularly and keep oil in the car.
2. Place a sand filled tray on the floor of my garage to catch any drips.

It seems to throw out a single drop everytime I start it.

To be honest it's barely using any oil at all.

There's nothing that i can think of that is prone to leaking in that area, but there are a few things that could be leaking.

If you're going to have a look you will need a decent light\torch.

Well I looked at this from the top and that line does go onto the fuel line, but its all completely dry at the top. As Flynn said this leaks such a small amount of oil I have even noticed the oil level drop yet, despite checking it each week.

Have you tried checking it with the engine running and slightly reving it at at the same time ?

I haven mate, but can I ask why, or what your thoughts are ?

Thing is I can only get to this area when the car is on ramps and I need someone else there as I cant rev it and check in that area at the same time...

Errrr, if you open the bonnet you can get to that pipe from the top where it joins the fuel rail

If it is engine oil then in certain parts of the engine obviously oil is under pressure (when the cars running) so it may be visible to see the oil weeping from somewhere when the car is running. Same goes for PS fluid, coolant etc.

If you're 100% convinced its dry at the top, run your hand down it (as best you can) until you feel the oil, at that point is obviously where you need to start looking.

It's a possibility your cam covers could have been leaking, but as you've already checked once i'd guess you would have spotted a leak from them.

Mate I had new cam covers just over a year ago so Im hoping its not them already..........

I will do some investigation when next off shift while the car is running, see if I can get it jacked up as well to get underneath and have a look...

Did whoever fitted them replace the gaskets?

It's not imperative, but if you re-use the old gaskets then you need to make sure they haven't gone hard, are seated correctly, that the mating surface is clean and also that you use a little instant gasket in the corner where it goes up over the cam bearing.

Sorry mate, not new cam covers, lol, new cam cover gaskets, as they were leaking slightly so had new gaskets fitted. Not sure about the instant stuff though, but I'll have a further recky about...
