Default Active Spoiler problem

Hi all. I recently purchased a second hand Active Spoiler and fitted it to my car yesterday. I plugged in the connector at the motor then plugged in the ecu and switch, turned on ignition and heard the spoiler go up and then the switch light just flashes and i have the ! in the dash on all the time!
The motor works fine when i test it with a battery just wont work when all plugged in! Could this problem be caused by a speedo conversion?
Thanks for any advice.

Does the spoiler go up and down when you press the button?

You need the ignition switch all the way on, but engine not started, and then press the button. If this works then to a certain degree it should eliminate the ECU, button and mechanism.

No it wont move when i press the button with the ignition on. If i connect a battery directly to the motor to lower the spoiler, then plug it back into the car loom and turn ignition on i just get the light glowing on the switch. If i then press the down switch the spoiler will shoot up and the ! dash light will show together with the flashing switch light!

OK, just managed to locate the info I was trying to find earlier.

Take a look at: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.b...s/spoiler1.htm

As a first step I would check at the active spoiler ECU plug that there is continuity between pins 14 & 16 when the spoiler is up and an open circuit between 15 & 14 , 15 & 16.

Then when the spoiler is down there should be continuity between 14 & 15 and no connection to the other pins.

Ok thanks for that, will take a look tomorrow.
Following my manual on testing the switch for continuity i found out that on the illumination circuit there is no continuity, so was wondering if something stupid like 3 bulbs not working in the switch would affect the whole system from working?!

I found the problem with this today, its the limit switch in the motor.
When spoiler is down i have continuity between pins 4 and 5 of the spoiler motor plug, however with it up there is none between 3 and 4.
I joined 3 and 4 at the (loom) plug end and this stopped the interior spoiler switch light flashing.
I am going to try and take a look in the motor at the switch but think i may look for another motor!
Thanks for your help.
Chris.

Update.
Fixed the motor yesterday, works well now, had to do some soldering!
Only problem now is at about 65mph the spoiler switch light starts to flash along with the ! warning. Spoiler goes up and down no problem with just the ignition on, i am thinking its something to do with my speedo converter maybe?
I will try and post up some pics showing the problem area of inside the motor later.

Talking

Well i have just been out in the car and the spoiler was working perfectly, coming down at about 60 and going back up at 40 ish!
Maybe it just needed to learn the ecu or something?
