Default I see oil Sir.........

I dont think this is anything major or a big issue, as Im sure something would have manifested by now, but on the underside of the car, just behind the front sub frame there is a little motor type looking thing, it has its own heat shield, I noticed a line going in but didnt trace where from, but the other day while getting my tracking and having the car up on the ramp I noticed this thing had oil dripping off of it, now to me it seemed that the oil was probably dripping from somewhere else and onto that.......

So any ideas where this oil could be coming from, I did have a qiuck look about at that side of the engine block but couldnt see anything obvious or if the oil was coming from anywhere else.

Also what is this little gizmo......?

I'll grab some pics when I get home later.....

I spent a very unproductive 2 hours crawling around under my car trying to find the source of that leak and attempting to find something loose to tighten and get rid of a rattle.

All to no avail.

Right I managed to get these photos today while the car was on some ramps, of where the oil is leaking, as I said I think its actually coming from somewhere else and dripping onto the following thats in the picture....

Thats actually the fuel feed line going from the filter (pictured) up to the fuel rail. It usually goes through the fuel pulsation damper, but as you have a braided line i'm assuming this has been removed.

That being the case you need to check higher up on that line as it passes close to so many items that the leak could be higher up on the engine and the oil travelling down the line. The line will most be connected to the end of the fuel rail by the firewall (assuming the fuel pulsation damper has been removed)

Martin, I agree the oil is probably coming from somewhere higher up and dripping down the line, its where its coming from I cant figure out. You cant see round the back from the top, and from underneath, there's too much stuff in the way to be able to see properly. I shall have another look after my interview today. Do you know of anything around that area of the back of the engine that could be prone to leak ?

Who else was it that said they had the same or similar leak, Flynn ?????
