Following on from Chris's post about fuel rails i've been looking at some of the aftermarket examples.

Just wondering if there are any significant disadvantages over the twin feed and centre return fuel rails that seem to be so popular ?

I would have thought they provided more even fuel pressure along the rail rather than the traditional in at one end and out at the other. Anybody have any experiences ?

For sure, a twin inlet rail will handle more fuel flow- that goes without saying really but like anything it all depends what sort of power you're trying to achieve as to what parts you fit.

The HKS rail, which is designed to have a single fuel in one end and a return the other is perfectly adequate for power around 550-600bhp. It might even be more, but we haven't really gone there. The car we have at the moment is using the HKS rail but are using the return from the centre of the rail (which is normally blanked or used for a pressure gauge) and are feeding both ends from a pair of 342 pumps.

This setup should be fine for just about any road car. At the moment we have hit 595bhp at the hubs on Abbeys dyno at just 6000rpm due to it being a fresh engine. When we up it to the 8000rpm it's designed for we should see some fairly big numbers. That is, assuming our fuel setup works.

Cheers
