Hey Guys,

I have ordered the rest of my single kit but I am undecided on which clutch and flywheel to go for, I am currently looking at these additional mods, what do you guys think :-

* Stock Flywheel
* RPS Max Series Street Disc
* Boostlogic Crank Pulley (Balanced and Damped)
* 3.5" Cat 1 Replacement (matches veilside)

I am also undecided on which intercooler to go for, which of these do you think would be best suited :-

* CW SMIC
* Greddy SMIC
* Greddy 3 Row FMIC

If i go for a FMIC then I also need to replace the radiator which is not a problem with a SMIC, also remember that I am only aiming to run about 1.0 - 1.3 Bar of boost which is well within the effeciency of the turbo so it should not be generating too much heat.

Wez, speak to Docking engineering - http://www.dockingengineering.com - they are based in the UK and will create a custom IC package for you which is cheaper than the GReddy equivilents and most probably based on a better core. CW has recommended them to me in the past - unfortunatly I was never able to find out what they could do but I did speak to them on the phone and seemed to be a very well informed company who would have been easy to do business with.

As for the clutch the one you have picked sounds like a good idea.

Hi Wez,

Just so you know I've been following all your progress so far with the I.M. kit as it will probably be the path i'll take in the next 18months or so.

With regard to the intercooler, I am looking into an upgrade from my smic (cosidering mainly CW SMIC, Miami Rice FMIC or possibly an external fabricator as alex suggested). I know Pace have made front mounts for supras in the past and Forge Motorsport said they can do it, given the required specs and sizes.

I am convinced that a high quality custom core (600x300x100mm) could be fabricated for well under ?900 but my concern was fabricating and routing the relevant piping.

If you feel you may go down the route of a custom fabricated FMIC then I'm happy to help out/make enquiries etc to see what's available and hopefully take that option too.(???'s allowing! )

Hope this is of some help and interest http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Dan

Pace don't have a very good reputation for consistency - unfortunately it seems to be a case of the luck of the draw with them as to whether or not the core from them is efficient or not.

I`ve gone for the ACT Pressure Plate and the Clutch Masters Stage 3 Disc, but just wondered out of interest how much should the stock clutch be able to take ??

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the replies http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I have also heard that Pace have produced some good and bad results, thanks for the DockingEngineering link I will give them a call and get some costs as for piping the fabrication company should be able to sort that as well, if not someone like Hayward and Scott should be able to knock up some piping.

The RPS clutch I am looking at is supposed to offer stock feel but with the added pressure which should be able to take about 600ft/lbs.

I decided on the stock flywheel because reading the crank walk threads on SF i noticed that the only cars that seem to have issues were the ones with a lightened flywheels, this could be because the lightened ones are not dual mass.

Maybe Chris Wilson can elaborate a little on the crank walk issues.

i thought the crankwalk issues were not linked to lightened flywheel (cars with dual mass flywheels had walked), but more linked to heavily pressured cover plates and starting the engine with the clutch in. could b bollocks but thats what i can remember from that thread.
