Me again.

Just checked out the exhaust on my new car and its a Blitz Nu-Spec which i assumed was all decated... ?However, on closer ispection the new exhause stops about a foot away from the turbos and goes into a crappy, rusted 'bit' ( see, im technical too )

poor photos can be found :

Link to crappy rusted thing - 2 (http://www.supradooper.co.uk/2.jpg) - nearly centre of screen, see the sensor , its the thing to the left of that.

what is it ? ?I assume its Cat? If so, do i need a blitz downpipe to replace it or will any do?

Once again. thanks.

Thats the first CAT, do you know if there was a second one further down the pipe ? Roughly where your bum would be in the drivers seat.

You can fit any de-cat pipe, doesn't have to be a Blitz one. I'm just wondering if one of your CAT's has already been removed. I'll post up a pic of the full exhaust system later on so you can get an idea. (Watching F1 at the mo)

One has definately already been removed, the garage gave it to me for when the MOT comes around next year. I just assumed that if the previous owner went to the trouble to fit a new Blitz exhaust and remove the second Cat, that the first one would of been removed as well.

Here you go.

If you already have one CAT removed then its probably worthspeaking to Chris Wilson and telling him that you need a 1st CAT removal pipe only and then he can supply you with this.

Remember though that when you remove the first CAT that your boost may well increase too much and you'll need to bring this back into check. Do you have an aftermarket boost gauge in there at all ? (the stock one is not too hot).

You can regulate the boost either through fitting a restrictor ring or a boost controller.

Many thanks. Ive not got a boost controller yet, but plan on purchasing one tomorrow - will do a little research but the Apexi ones look quite sexy ( in design at least ).

Does Chris have a website, or shall I PM him through the forums ?

I was always taught to keep lines short to enable display on small monitors, but it's probably not necessary on a web based board. Force of habit I guess.

Ok guys, am i missing sometihng?

on further investigation, ive already got a blitz downpipe which still connects directly to the first cat ( labeled No.2 Front exhaust pipe ) in the diagram. I thought the downpipe was supposed to remove the cat, not attach to it?

Chris , the pipe's you stock - that will just replace the first cat and connect to the blitz downpipe?

When I first designed the production version of the pipes for my old MKIV I had 2 things in mind. Allowing for removal of only one of the 2 cats (either one), which meant a 2 piece pipe, and sizing their internal diameter to help control boost creep. Either pipe may be used individually, or as a pair to replace both cats. My front pipe will mate up to you Blitz second pipe just fine, although it will put the Blitz to shame, quality wise http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
