I assume it's the same type of equipment in the Tiptronic box as what's in the stock auto?

IE can you just stick in a higher stall torque converter? Does anyone know of one on the market that fits? Or do the pre Tiptronic one's fit? 3200 stall on a 4 or 5? speed tiptronic box might be good fun http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

(there is a Tiptronic 98 spec on Autotrader for under 11k hence the question!!!http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Hmmm that makes it sounds like a lemon. Please let me know info on it as I am VERY interested if it's not a lemon.
Been searching the web for lots of info on the Tiptronic box....only there isn't lots of info on the box http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif Infact I can't find ANYTHING about it's specifications.

don't worry not a lemon at all afaik!

there can't be many 'S' plate tip's in that colour with that kinda of mileage knocking about. If it is the one i missed out on then its previous owner was a private guy how imported it brand new, had a fTsh and then sold it on 80+k miles as he was going to buy a RS6. It did however get snapped up quick (at around the price it is now) and was back in the trader asap at ?13995 at a dealer. So i spose it may not be the one? and i should say i never got to actually see/drive it

If you ever see it let me know the previous owners name/details.........

There's no way its the same as the old auto box as the tiptronic function would be hard to support on the old A340E box. It could be based on the box but they won't be interchangeable. However a torque converter is a torque converter at the end of the day and i'm sure a higher stall one can be fitted\built.

What you need to know is, as you say if its the same torque converter as used for the A340E box. Unfortunately my Jap EPC only goes up to 97 and no Tiptronic cars.

Surely someone knows the model code of the Tiptronic box? Going to have to ask elsewhere http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/down.gif
