Here's one for you guys in the know http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Can you tell me if an exhaust for a TT will fit a NA?

Seen a couple of aftermarket exhausts for sale for the TT (2nd hand) but as the question above states, just wondered if the fitment was the same.

Cheers

Todd

Yes it is the same from the CAT-Back.

Great, thanks for that Martin. Just out of interest any ideas on the mongoose? had one on my NA MR2 and the build quality and pickup was great.

Mongoose is one of the tamest (sp?) of all the exhausts out there, ie not massive diameter and not very loud (but louder than stock).

Not heard of any build quality issues but there again i've not heard of many fitted.

Most supra owners tend to go for jap manufactured exhuasts like apexi, blitz, hks, and occasionally veilside (usa). Performance, looks & quality aside, i personally would be happier telling people I had one of these rather than a mongoose.

Never really cared what other folk think http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Just after an affordable SS exhaust, what brands on the tin is a side issue as long as the build quality is there http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

If I started worrying about branding I'd have to stop buying my clothes in GEORGE at Asda's http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I prefer my clothes from Tescos personally ( http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif ) but back on topic, a S/S pipe (or titanium - veilside), as straight as possible with large bore is the ideal exhaust. TBH i think the reason most go for jap made exhausts is more than just about names & image. But if you're happy with what ever you decide to go for, that's really all that matters. http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Veilside are a Japanese brand.

my mistake http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/spank.gif just seen so much veilside coming from the usa i assumed it was yank http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Wouldn't an exhaust designed for the turbo application be a lot noisier on a n/a?

Straight as possible with a large bore may be the ideal exhaust for a turbo'd car but you need different caracteristics for a non-turbo thats why companies like BLITZ make the REALIZE TT EXHAUST.

Thats a good point, but the original question was would it fit not whether it would be suitable, hence why i think that point was overlooked.

A decatted NA is always louder than a de-catted TT.

Apparently not every exhaust is suitable for the N/A which relies on a certain amount of back pressure............go over 2.5" bore and you`ll loose power http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Why is a decatted NA is always louder than a de-catted TT.

The TT has turbos inbetween the exhaust port and the end of the exhaust pipe whereas an NA has nothing http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Oh, in that case I'd better buy a TT because the wife will moan like hell about a noisy exhaust. (At least she did on my FTO)

1. I really wouldn't worry about the power aspect of using an N/A exhaust against a turbo exhaust- I very much doubt if you'll notice.

2. Yes, Martin is right they are interchangable so you can put a TT exhaust on an N/A and vice-versa.

3. My opinion on Mongoose exhausts? I had a full Evo 6 front pipe and exhaust (?600 quids worth) sitting in the wheely-bin outside out place because the owner couldn't stand the knocking and leaking. He had put up with it for 2 weeks and that was enough. Can't comment on the JZA ones though. Of course, people want them because they are full stainless though. Seems that most unknowing punters look for that over everything else.

4. A turbo exhaust WILL be louder than the N/A equivalent. For this reason, if you want quietness with decent build quality, and full stainless, then I would go for the N/A specific HKS Silent Hi-Power. They are in stock, have been measured at 99Db and are ?485 excluding VAT.
